Greenpoint EMS Station
Despite its title, this EMS dispatch station is located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Sitting on a prominent site, the structure communicates the seriousness of the public service it provides. Michielli + Wyetzner Architects derived the station's restrained form as a response to the varied scales of its program - tall, utilitarian spaces for ambulances, and more intimate, refined spaces for the men and women who serve this community. Lined in glass with a multitude of treatments and organized around a sky-lit, double-height atrium, the station is always washed in natural light.
This project was completed as a part of the Department of Design and Construction Design Excellence program.
